A Bit of History
You Ji was established in Taiwan in 1977 and developed their first mid-sized CNC vertical lathe in 1991. Soon they began exporting to global markets, expanded their operations, and partnered with distributors in the United States. In the early 2000s, the company’s vertical lathes and vertical boring mills gained popularity for their value as compared to higher-priced models from Japan, while their accuracy allowed them to be used for precision work in the aircraft and military sectors. YouJi expanded its production capacity in 2012 to meet increased demand, and continues to develop innovative products today.
You Ji's vertical turret lathe (also called a vertical boring machine or vertical boring mill) is able to handle even the most demanding high-precision and heavy-cutting jobs due its stability, rigidity, and quality craftsmanship. The vertical design allows for easier loading of large, heavy parts, and gravity helps hold them in place and ensure contact with the chuck during cutting. The gearbox is constructed to reduce vibration and heat exchange to the spindle, which further increases accuracy. Crossed roller bearings can support heavy loads, and the huge 1-piece ram is made out of high grade steel for stability.
MMI has several You Ji vertical boring mills for sale as of 2014. All are ATC models fitted with an ergonomic disc-type automatic tool changer and Fanuc controls.
The YouJi 2000 ATC+C is the largest machine available with a 90-inch max turning diameter, and 78-inch max turning height.
